‘… there are some things in this world to which I am proud to be maladjusted … I never intend to adjust myself to segregation and discrimination … I never intend to become adjusted to religious bigotry … I never intend to adjust myself to the madness of militarism … the saving of our world will come, not through the complacent adjustment of the conforming majority, but through the creative maladjustment of a non-conforming minority … human salvation lies in the hands of the creative maladjusted …'
- Martin Luther King Jnr

cREATIVE MALADJUSTEMENTBuilding on the interest and energy generated by the screenings, talks, and discussions, Anti-Psychiatry & its Legacies, and I Went Mental And All I Got Was A Lousy T-Shirt, Nottingham Contemporary is collaborating with Making Waves to organise a call to action.

We invite the audiences who participated in these events, and other interested people to share knowledge, pool resources, and plan towards future creative and collaborative activity - inside and outside of Nottingham Contemporary.

The event takes place at Nottingham Contemporary on Monday 8th July 2013, 11-1 / 2-4 (attend either or both) to celebrate worldwide Creative Maladjustment Week, a global celebration of critical nonconformity.

It is facilitated by Making Waves, a local enterprise of people with lived experience of madness. We want to create spaces and possibilities, which bring different people together in new understandings, relationships, and adventures. And we would love you to be there.

Come and get creatively maladjusted! RSVP to attend or network!
