at the moment, i'm querying if there is a qualitative difference between mindfulness linked to spiritual values, and mindfulness divorced from spiritual values; or if it is an equally powerful/transformative/life-enhancing 'tool' when allied to a criminal/delinquent instinct ... for instance, does the criminal persuasion, which usually involves the urge to enact things impulsively and find short-cuts, weaken the possibility of the life-enhancing disciplines of concentration/mindfulness? 
on the other hand, master criminals such as ted kaczynski and carl gugasian had enormous reserves of self-discipline, concentration, single-mindedness and purpose, over extended periods of time, and were highly educated
