A Marked Improvement: transforming assessment in higher education
A Marked Improvement has been developed by a group of experts, working with the HEA to provide a strong rationale for transforming assessment in higher education. It includes an assessment review tool, offering a practical method to take stock of current practice and look to a targeted approach to strategic change. The publication also includes further resources for staff, which can be used to support changes to assessment policy and practice. Download report.
This November, the HEA will be launching a new opportunity for higher education institutions to join a national pilot scheme aiming to transform assessment in higher education. The HEA is looking for eight higher education institutions in the UK with the vision and enthusiasm to rejuvenate and refresh their assessment policy and practice. The purpose of the scheme is to help institutions transform their assessment strategy through applying the review tool contained in A Marked Improvement.
The call for this scheme will be available on 5 November 2012 and the deadline for applications will be28 January 2013. Further details, including call documentation and how to apply will be available from 5 November 2012.
We welcome feedback on A Marked Improvement and would like to hear from higher education institutions that have used the review tool, and to report on its value for their context and suggest improvement - please email the assessment team.
