There has just been a discussion on the psychiatric nursing list about something akin to this. I wondered how we as nurses can justify giving drugs to our patients that will give them secondary problems such as diabetes. I found this blog disturbing and unsettling, particularly with its obvious resonances with the use of forced medication and the awful power we get under the MHA. I have no idea about any solutions. I wish I did. ( There seems something perverse when we give our patients drugs that will poison them and label them as paranoid when they complain about being poisoned. A brave new world indeed! Thanks Bob.
