Event Description
The Spiritual Crisis Network began life in 2004 as a volunteer committee of mental health workers and experts by experience. Its aims are to provide information, training, and support for those who are going through or recovering from ‘spiritual crisis’ and to act as an important resource for their carers, health professionals, and supporters.
In keeping with these objectives, the Spiritual Crisis Network will be holding an interactive conference entitled ‘Finding Solid Ground: Investigating Mental Health, Spirituality and Extreme Human Experiences’ at the University of Sunderland on 28 June 2013, 9.00 am to 4.30 pm.
The conference will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn about the latest research in anomalous experience, as well as the chance to participate in a wide range of theoretical and experiential workshops. Keynote speakers include Rufus May, Catherine Lucas, Caroline Brett, Charlie Heriot-Maitland and Isabel Clarke. The discussions will focus on:
- New ways of helping people through crisis
- New understandings of extreme human experiences
- Hopeful and transformative ways forward for those struggling with experiences that can be described as episodes of ‘spiritual crisis’ or ‘psychosis’
Registration fees (including lunch and refreshments) are as follows:
